Few weeks back, The Jammu and Kashmir government announced re-opening of the schools in February. However, the government has issued a series of directions asking students and teachers to wear masks and maintain a two-metre distance. The government said touching surfaces by the students and teachers in and around the area of the school should be prohibited.Recently it was stated that the schools in Srinagar district will reopen from 20 February for implementation and monitoring of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to be followed during the reopening of schools for academic activities, the government said recently .
According to the order issues by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Kumar said that the schools shall remain open for the implementation and monitoring of activities specified from 20 February.
“The preparations made in this context by High and Higher Secondary Schools shall be monitored by District Level Committees,” the order reads.
Kumar said that the preparation for implementation of SOPs shall start from 12 February and monitoring of the same shall start soon after .
“All government educational institutions, including recognized private schools, shall physically open in a staggered manner for academic activities,” a government order said. The schools in the summer-zone areas of Jammu for class 9 to 12 will reopen on February 1.
On the other hand , Most of the states are only reopening the schools for higher classes such as classes 9 to 12 as these students have the most academic pressure and have to appear for the board exams set to take place in the first half of 2021.Parents are delighted over the fact that schools in Kashmir are opening after longtime in the backdrop of abrogation of article 370 and the ragging pandemic of Coronavirus.
Tanveer Ahmad , a parent stated : ” We are very happy that our kids will be going schools nearly after two years . Over the past few years , we in Kashmir have seen our kids losing lot of valuable academic sessions due to varied reasons . We are hopeful that in the year 2021 our children would get maximum time in schools to cover the lost ground . “One hopes that in the year 2021 the students of the Kashmir Valley would get maximum time of theirs in the schools so that future of Kashmir does not suffer anymore . School reopening is certainly a good omen for entire Jammu and Kashmir.

School opening is a very good Development . When everything is open we could not have delayed for long the school opening .Due to Coronavirus and other reasons our students have suffered much as in recent years they have seen very little schooling .Nothing can compensate the exposure of life and knowledge received in practical schooling . One hopes that our kids go to school regularly now. “
