Kashmir Tourism revival hopes
Tourism is one of the prominent sectors of the Kashmir economy. A large number of human resource is associated with tourism and travel related industry in Kashmir ,as it provides livelihood to thousands of households .The double whammy of article 370 abrogation and ragging Coronavirus pandemic had lent a death blow to the tourism sector of Kashmir . Now in a optimistic news the tourism of Kashmir is showing signs of revival .In past few days a good number of tourists have visited Kashmir and many others are planning to visit .Recently Laying focus on strengthening of assets, the Director Tourism Dr. G.N.Itoo emphasised upon executing agencies to ensure that all the pending tourism projects under PMDP are completed at the earliest while maintaining the quality of work. He also sought immediate repair works and restoration of the damaged infrastructure due to recent snowfall. For this, he directed the officers to immediately submit the report on the status of each project.
Dr. Itoo also stressed on exploring the new and lesser-known destinations and improving the basic infrastructure there so that tourists can be diverted to these destinations which will also help maintain the carrying capacity of the popular destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg during peak seasons.In other related Development, the Bollywood is again turning its eyes and cameras towards its once-favorite destination Kashmir including famous Ski resort Gulmarg as with the increase in the footfall of tourists, film and television crews are returning to the valley to capture the picturesque, shooting-friendly locales and rekindle the old romance with the place.
One hopes the tourism industry of Kashmir valley will show signs of revival and the upward trend would continue.
